in Bangkok & WORKING Grrrrrr...

Me, In the Royal Kingdom of Thailand, the people had just finished the king's celebration, It was huge and looked glitzy, the fireworks at Muang Thong Thani were excellent. I went there on the last day of celebration.

Besides these I have been working, and working and working. been here to profile 5 companies. The companies almost look like fortresses, impenetrable, mysterious hard to crack. I am not giving-up the ever-optimistic Amit afterall ... But I hope Koh Tao does not go under the sea. In 10 days from now I am planning Diving on the waters with Friends. God help with this workload...

Company putting a lot of pressure, but it is the nature of the work that is difficult and I fear my capabilities will be put under the scanner for the same. Afterall how am i expected to bring people to talk from such a small sample size ... :((

In the meantime I met old people, Vineet, Sharita, and the biggest surprise Winmin. It was her Birthday and she treated me to a grand dinner at MK. She is now working for Bangkok Pattaya Hospital. Also talked to Rahul, Suparnoda, and Chatterjeeda Is here too for a week, though haven't met any of them till now. Hopefully this weekend.

need all the wishes to complete this proj.

I blogged after a long time. I hope to blog faster.

Rain Showers in Delhi ... Plans for Bangkok

Woke up to a nice cool shower from heaven, Delhi looked and felt blessed, wish it always stayed like that... with program of going to IMAX theatre cancelled I had nothing to do. The weather is still so good, perfect for an outing, Vinita called but due to the cancelled program didnt feel like going out. Gogo is still sulking with the tiff he had with his mom. He just doesn't want to go out for Lunch ... tch tch poor me.

Now I am getting serious about going to bangkok, should ask the travel agent the lowest price. Post-MBA I seriously wanted to get a job in Thailand, but fate had other plans for me. to take me back to my basics... to make me realize... probably there are higher forces called destiny .. yes I do believe in it, though I may not be able to justify that with reasoning.

Just called the agent-->Rs. 14000+3500, hmmm ... looks stiff, will think about it soon. am coming Thailand- the Land of Smiles. beckon me with ur arms open.

I left the post half-done till above, yesterday morning, saved as a draft thinking I will complete by evening, but as usual the evening never came .. Lol. Today morning again I fet cold, Delhi and so Cooool in summers ... just wow.

Yesterday we couldnt go to the IMAX theatre, instead decided to chill @ home.
Gogo wants to buy a laptop, he applied for a personal loan and got it approved yesterday. He is buying an Acer laptop. And guess who he is taking all the advice from ?? ... ME.

Today evening will be a good one, I hope. A party planned by the gang. people going :- me, gogo, rahul, momin, Amitda, tutu, shriti, Vinita, Jhumki, chiro, Meenakshi is giving it a miss, got office.. Manish wont be able to join because of Family fadda.

Jhumki just mentioned a good one in Lajpat nagar, let's see where it will be, All the guys will be meeting outside Gogo's @ 8 pm. Will keep you posted on what happened there.

It's a Delhi Sunday

Delhi + summers make a terrible combination, but yesterday evening it was different, it rained cats and dogs, cooled the scorched earth and touched our souls. So today morning when I got up at 7 am it was pleasantly cool. I am still undecided if I should join Amit-gulu or stay with Gogo here in CR Park. Unlike summers Delhi winters are absolutely wonderful, I just love the sun then and the climate becomes so romantic. Just wish Delhi had longer winters.

I have been going to Amit-gulu every sunday since the past 3-4 weeks, I go there dirty up their bedroom, drink beer, Thums-up, talk with them and abuse-push gulu to make babies... life ... great isnt it? I have been pushing this couple friends of mine to make babies, because they cant be young forever... rt? Now gulu is coming to a deal with me--> You get married and I make a baby. And, I have agreed to her -> No job yet, so what ??? ahahaha Everything is fair, if the end is noble.

Gogo wants me to join karate class today morning but he is still sleeping, Amit wants me to go to Chandi-chowk to get a big album to arrange his photos. Let the day decide what happens. In the meantime I wish the day stays cool like it is now... wishful think I might say.

Am thinking of taking the Delhi Metro, to gulu's place. I just so proud of it, and to top it all, it is all of Rs 17, for 40-45 mins of ride, passing by 23 stations (from barakhamba to Dwarka sector12), compared with Bangkok's 40 Bahts (Rs 45) or london's 3 pounds (Rs 220), or paris' 2.5 Euros (Rs 145), Call that cheap rt ? NO call it inexpensive :P ... The metro stop is just 5 mins walk from gulu's place but no metro in south Delhi as of now, so I go to central Delhi to take it, heard it will touch South Delhi by 2008-9, yes, Delhi deserves to be a world-class city with great infrastructure.

Yesterday nite was fun, afer cool downpour gogo and I took his Bike-Enfield out for a ride and dinner outside, if petrol weren't that expensive, we would have taken a long ride ... LOL. Post dinner I wanted to have coffee, I wanted to go to "Barista" my favorite coffee chain, but gogo urged me to try out this new chain called "Costa coffee" and I was impressed. The capuccino was great and huge for Rs 55, And the Ambience and Aroma were great. A good looking girl dropped in when we were having our last sip Lol,(it always happens that way .. ahahaha).

Back home we hit the internet (accessed via wireless from God knows whose network ! - My laptop is great!!! - it can catch networks anywhere in the world, in France I saved a lot of money and effort to carry the laptop to school, my Laptop just caught the nighbours' network near our hostel and to top it all Mai's laptop couldn't do that Lol :P. she tried hard but couldn't ). On the net we searched for girls of marriageable age for me and gogo LOL. Aunty joined in the fun and we cahtted our way deep into the nite. Gogo and me discussed Judo, Aikido dowloaded a video, watched and finally slept.

Just got the Morning Newspaper, something I loved about India and will always love it so much, Opening a crisp newspaper with a hot up of Tea is the best thing one can ask for... alas many people will never understand that.

Today I am in a chatty mood, I hope people can keep up to me the whole day. Missing so many people today wish you were here ... wishful thinking ???.

Will keep blogging.

Pizza Party with Delhi Gang

My "Pizza parties" had become very well talked of by the time I came back and almost all the guys and girls were eager to have one, once that I was back in Delhi. It all started one day when my friend and brother Gogo and me wanted to kill sometime one afternoon , so what better way than having food that we loved. we invited some friends and it was an instant hit, subsequently we did many pizza parties, and they were almost always great, because of the food the coke/pepsi and the money(the contribution was so less !)

After I moved on to Bangkok no one cared to continue the parties, but they all had missed and more importantly the words had stuck in these people's imagination "Pizza Party" so last week when gogo proposed, we were all so excited , we fond 3 new faces too, shriti, meenakshi and tutu among us. But as usual it was huge fun , making the pizzas and eating them with loads of cheese on them, hahaha who cares for calories here...

Yesterday I went out with Tia, my little friend who has grown up quite a bit, she is taller and now in Grade 10. I am talking about her in this post because this again is related to pizzas, I , Tiklu (Tia's elder bro ... now a medico) and Tia used to go for Pizzas @ Nirula's in Delhi and have one particular pizza "Mutton Sausage Pizza". Tiklu is now far off in Bardhaman doing his MBBS to become a doctor, really miss him tonnes.

We all decided that our pizza parties will happen more often ... lets see how many pizzas are yet to be baked :P

Delhi Calling

After coming back from AIT, Thailand, I dunno why I decided to come to mumbai, at that time it seemed prudent, afterall all the big pharma are here, but ... and a big but, luck seemed to say otherwise, not that I didnt get offers, but they were, I may say Dismal, anyway no complaints. Today I may go to Delhi, waiting now for the Travel agent to call me up. Summer rush and all trains booked to capacity... I hope to get that ticket in Rajdhani, India's fastest Train ... ahahahaha.

Delhi has been beckoning me since the last few weeks, but I had been putting that off for some reason or the other, I hope to catch up with my Karate there, of course Old friends and will go for the scheduled Interviews as well.

Delhi .. oh my Delhi, love u so much. Gogo, Winnie, Rahul, chiro, jhumki ... and gang. Of course Tia is also waiting for me to have pizza with me, miss her so much she must have grown up now, the last time I saw her she was in grade 5 :P. Then there are ever-present Amit-gulu, also would like to catch up with "Old" Gulati saab (gullu badshah, as paramjeet likes to call him), Rai Saab and jalali. Haven't met or called Tarun sir for a long time. Wish to meet him this time and do some classes under him too.

The interview with Standard Chartered yesterday was a good one, Relationship Manager - was funny the way in which she was intrigued at the way I was positioning myself as marketeer, it was difficult but convincing that Marketing is done from the heart not with brain. Let this journey be a blessed one. Waiting for another very Important call lets see what happens. Life is not that bad after all things are looking up, I hope :P.

I thought I did Intl Finance ... Until

The world of finance continues to amaze me, I am and will always be a marketing guy, but finance is no less fascinating though, When I was in CERAM, in France, macroeconmics interested me more than other subjects like investment banking, or trading strategies or corporate finance. I liked Macroeconomics because it gave me an air of "Know-all" feeling , (maybe because very few people understand it anyway .. ahahahaha... ). The courses like International Finance, also helped form the Base for a broad understanding of International Economics.

Derivatives are another Mind-blowing animals which gave me a hard time, even though I was fascinated by the subject and its scope, I hated the teacher for his high-handed attitude. Anyway more on that later. Futures, options, .... gawd save me...

While trying to understand complex financial instruments in my course at CERAM, the basics had probably been underplayed, Today while trying to understand "Securities Trading" I came across some interesting "Strategies" like Dow Theory, Elliott Wave Theory, another very prudent View was the Multiple Time Frame Trading Strategy. Good readings for the basics if someone is thinking of Trading as a career.

Given the availabilty of time I would like to explore many other areas that I am interested in like macroeconomics, International Global Economics, Currency Crises etc.

Also I am thinking of blogging about my other hobbies/passions like photography, My travels, Martial arts, etc etc... maybe I am trying to put my leg in many areas, maybe I am spreading myself too thin ...

Hope to keep blogging

Micky

It was Micky's Last day in Mumbai and he wanted help to help with the packers and movers, He had joined Infosys, India's premier software company at its Pune Campus. His wife poorvi was blessed with a kid a few weeks back, the day he joined Infosys, The healthy baby was born in the 1000 year old city of orissa - Cuttack. In a few weeks both mom and baby girl will join the proud father at their pune house.

After the packing was done and the goods packed off by the Movers and packers we went to izza Hut to have our lunch. The Pizza was great with pepsi and Salad to top it all. Nice lunch I did say :P.

Today Micky struck me as a mature man, a facet which I would say scared me a bit, Because ... he was a guy who grew up with me till life took us far away. My family used to stay in his grand-father's rented house, and they all used to live upstairs, we used to play cricket, gilli-danda, maar-pit, chhupa-chhupi, etc etc. Then We moved to our new home, He went on to become an Engineer, where he met his would-be Poorvi, our oriya girl. I went on to do what-not ... and am still doing something .. hahaha

Maybe marriage and fatherhood had brought out the mature man in him, which I was finding difficult to identify with, but I wish him to stay that way, and wish him all the success in life.

New year - Mumbai Style (Gudi Padwa) .. but we had ...

Today in the state of Maharashtra, people celebrtae the Marathi New Year named "Gudi Padwa" with people having holidays and festivities all around, it seemed as if the whole of Mumbai was taking a holiday. My friend Satya also had a leave and Bidur, the greatest cook on Earth had cooked Mutton, a spicy mutton curry popularly cooked in almost all over India. I had cooked Kadhi, but it seemed no one got interested in it, as Mutton curry was really good.

Thailand will be celebrating its new year in a few days from now, on 13-14 April. In Thailand I got an opprtunity to eat mutton only once, my friend had taken me to a Muslim Food Restaurant, where I had a rice mutton plate which was very similar to our Biryani.

In Vietnam I had mutton, where it was eaten barbequed, nothing strange people in SE Asia hardly eat Mutton, with the exception of Muslim population.

Nice day. Nice mutton dish with rice and a long afternoon siesta, Great Tea... now back to job search.

Linh - Our Duracell Battery Pack

Today I happened to chat with a livewire friend named Linh, She is from Hanoi Vietnam and was my classmate at AIT. Though I could hardly connect with her at that time because of our age gap, today I feel a lot closer to her. I subsequently got close to her thanks to tonnes of vietnamese friends and particularly so when we went to study at CERAM, our Dual Degree school in France. About her I have probably seen very few girls as energetic and vibrant as her, the only other girl who came close to her was another 20-something girl named "Debopoma" in my Karate Dojo in New Delhi, And this explains why I have named the post as Duracell :P. I am sad that her personal life is a bit shaken, and probably that makes her a bit wiser (not that she was not wise, earlier, :P ... ).
I remember her as my friend as who had a whole wordrobe collection, mostly from Thammasat :P, her friends ( a.k.a boyfriends ) and someone who travelled more than anyone of us when we were in Europe.

The picture here shows her when she came to visit us in our room in NICE. She also happens to be an active blogger now with a blog in yahoo, with lots of nice pics in them of her travels abroad.

She also used to punch me sometimes with her strong hands, which sometimes amazed me, and sometimes I punched her hard and used to wonder ow she could not get hurt (I used to hit her real hard ... now pls dont get down to "How can u hit a girl ??? ... etc etc " )

Today she has a new job offer on hand and I wish her all the best in life. Wish really to keep in touch with her. And more importantly I wish her to get mature and settle down with a good guy soon. And I am sure she will regain her faith in love again soon

Best wishes from an OLD friend

Beer with Amit @ Marriott

Yesterday night was a good one, long-time friend Amit Selot had come over to Mumbai and called me up for a beer, along with his younger brother Sumeet. After leaving Thailand I had been thirsting for a Draught Beer, but even inside Marriott Draught of choice was hard to come by. I think It will be years before beer-guzzling came actually come up as a normal time-pass. Beer is still "Alcohol " in Indian society, after all. Probably the only state in India with Liberal attitude towards Alcohol consumption is GOA, where Beer is available in grocery stores also. I wish that be emulated all over India ... aaahahahahahahaha pipe-dreams.

The best beers anyway are always availabe in Europe,.. just remembering the days there when I was with Amit and friends, at the Heineken Factory, the beer that came along with the tour was just Heavenly, never had anything close to it anywhere. Asia will take a long time to catch up or will probably never even come close. Just look at the pic, Amit going bonkers there., and probably his wife not finding that very funny, or was she already drunk ???? hahahaha, I can say that because after coming out of the tour, she was singing on the streets of Amsterdam like a chirpy bird. :). We all had a nice time after that though. And talking of Beer, In bruges, a small town in Belgium I wanted to visit a bar which sold 300 different varieties of beer, but unfortunately it was closed on the days that I was there. Also worth mentionable was the Singha beer of Thailand, a good brew I would say.

A brief introducion about Amit: He happens to be among my best friends today, but actually he is married to my childhood friend Sucharita (gulu). Initially after marriage I used to introduce the couple as "This is Gulu my friend and this is her husband, Amit" but after some beer sessions the introduction went this way "This is Amit my friend, and this is gulu his wife" and if I was in a chatty mood I would add "she also happens to be my childhood friend", or otherwise it was conveniently ignored ... Hahahahahaha.

Anyway back to mumbai we had Foster's the beer from down-under, Australia... and it was good. The Philipino singer who came and introduced herself to us, was also charming. she looked somewhat like mary, the girl in AIT, famous for her skimpy clothes... hahahaa, sometimes she looked hot ... though ;). The Ambience at the hotel was good lots of foreigners too. Sumeet had whisky, I was surprised at the kid being bold enough to take whisky in front of his elder bro.. times change , :P . After 3 hours and many beers we headed to a famous Pav-Bhaji stall in Andheri, the chikoo shake was good too.

Time to part, Anit had to take an early morning flight to Bangalore, wish I could spend more time with him like we used to do in Delhi.. whole night drinking talking singing, dancing etc etc. Came back to room had a nice sleep, Right now Amit must be in Bangalore,

Waiting for better times mate

yours lovingly

Of Pride being Pulled Down

With passage of time it seems I am getting Edgier. I hope to make it somewhere soon. Sometimes I wonder who controls your life ... At other times I feel that all my pride has been taken away with no access to it... seems as if someone is being vengeful at my prior attitude. Will I be given an opportunity to cover lost ground? And more importantly to cover lost pride? How much lower will I be pulled down to? Does someone really care? Does someone really control it ? ... So many questions these days... and no answer to any of them . I hope someday when I look back on these words, I will be able to make some sense.

Pondering on Dreams

Dreams are best left unattended for sometime, because they seem so far that the air almost looks opaque... too far ... too dreamlike... to be true. Do I sound pessimistic ? it maybe because of things happening around me. Just waiting for the days when I can give wings to my dreams and they can fly... will wait ... what do u say ?? Or will this abyss never end ??? There is an Indian saying "Before one's time and more than one's luck, no one has ever got his share and nor will anyone ever get it ever" . Anyway never mind all the ramblings... Now I got to think about what to do tomorrow ... will keep you posted.

Baby Steps

Dear all,

It had been quite sometime, that I was seriously pondering about creating my own Space. These pages which will follow form today will be a serious attempt to look into my thoughts, wishes, ideas, fantasies, hopes, dreams, and .... . I will also attempt to post some documents, links, pics .. etc of my friends, interesting websites (of interest to me) and my life.

At this juncture I am going through a very low ebb of my life... I ain't got a job, personal life in complete upheaval, heart almost wrenched out of its space, ... seems I got little else to lose. I blame myself for my state which I let happen due to my own inaction and unwillingness to go against the rules of the world. I hope I will regroup soon.

I also intend this space to be an experience in my attempts to Learn a few areas of interest which has been fascinating me since the last few years. Let's see how much I can achieve through this attempt.

Really wish me luck, I got to give it a go, and that too with all my Heart and tonnes of wishes from all of my readers. I may not be posting very regularly. But, I will definitely attempt to do so.

Regards

Amit GHOSH
